Stylish Levelling Foot for Furniture Designers - 10th December 2003
Design Brief
When a leading global manufacturer of specialist furniture developed their revolutionary range of desking systems, they needed help with a vital component the Levelling Foot.
The new generation of office furniture combines aesthetics, flexibility and functionality.
To complement the futuristic design the customer required and adjustable levelling foot to a shape and colour that co-ordinated perfectly with their modular furniture whilst being functional.
Solution
The solution was to design a light duty Levelling Foot that was shaped to suit the furniture's contours and be sturdy enough to withstand the load conditions specified.
The levelling foot base was designed from a glass filled nylon material with a metallic silver finish to blend in with the desking systems colour scheme.
The base was shaped with rounded corners to ensure the assembly could glide across carpeted surfaces without snagging.
The levelling foot stud was attached to the base using a ball and socket arrangement designed in such a away so as to provide articulation for alignment purposes and yet be firmly retained in the base so as not to be dislodged during movement and repositioning of the furniture.
